Welcome Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls on board this Boeing 7-sleigh-7.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and our Christmas Inflight Entertainment section is live once again and we have some fantastic festive videos for your enjoyment.
Please now sit back, pour yourself a mulled wine and enjoy the movies.
This has to be one of my favourite Christmas adverts, courtesy of Heathrow Airport.
It’s a Wonderful Flight and the #heathrowbears are back in time for Christmas 2017 with some retro Heathrow scenes, including BOAC and British Airways.
Find out more about them here – Heathrow Bears
Heathrow joined the Christmas advert craze in 2016. The film, entitled “The best gift of all”, shows teddy bear couple Mr and Mrs Bear as they adventure through the airport. As they travel through the hub, the film – set to a Chas and Dave soundtrack – captures all the familiar sights and sounds of Heathrow. Finally the elderly bears emerge, blinking into arrivals and we see them searching the crowds for someone, but we won’t give away the ending, you’ll have to watch for yourselves.
Throughout their 70 years, Heathrow have specialised in reconnecting people with their loved ones, especially at this time of year, because coming home for Christmas is the best gift of all.
Take a look behind the scenes and discover how they filmed their ‘Coming Home for Christmas Ad’
Air New Zealand
Here we have the fabulous festive advert from Air New Zealand ‘A Very Merry Mistake’.
Kiwis are known to put their own spin on words, mixing up vowels and leaving the rest of the world pretty confused. Santa is one of them, it’s definitely not an easy task for Santa to get his head around every order that comes from New Zealand each year.
Finnair has for many years been known as the official airline of Santa and in 2014 created a special video, giving away some of Father Christmas’ best kept secrets. You may have always thought it was Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen that whisked Santa and his sleigh around the world? Turns out he had a little help from his good friends at Finnair.
“You know how mysterious it is that Santa can get to every house and home around the world in just 24 hours? Well, we here at Finnair happen to share something with Santa and you seem like someone who can keep a secret. So here we are, ready to open the curtain hiding one of Christmas’s biggest mysteries”.
In 2016 Finnair showed how the bring people together over the Holiday season. Christmas is a time for coming together with friends and family. It’s about the little things we do that make people feel loved, those special moments that make it all worthwhile. Wherever and whoever you spend the holidays with, a little Christmas spirit is all it takes to make this Christmas a joyous one!
In 2016 the fabulous boys and girls at WestJet did it again with yet another wonderful and emotional festive video.
On May 1, 2016, a wildfire began southwest of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. On May 3, it swept through the community, destroying approximately 2,400 homes and buildings and forcing the largest wildfire evacuation in Albertan History. It continued to spread across approximately 590,000 hectares (1,500,000 acres) before it was declared to be under control on July 5, 2016. It is the costliest disaster in Canadian History.
WestJet invited residents of Fort McMurray to a Christmas party where they could take their minds off the stress of the past seven months and (hopefully) create new family memories. See everything that happened here.
And check out the behind the scenes video here…..
In 2014, WestJet travelled to the Dominican Republic to bring some Christmas cheer to families on the Caribbean Island. Check out the video here….
And why exactly did WestJet travel down to the community of Nuevo Renacer, near Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic? Find out in the truly heart warming ‘Why We Did It’ video…..
In 2013, WestJet went all out to surprise a group of 250 unsuspecting passengers travelling from Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario to Calgary. Greeting them at the departure lounges, a huge video screen shows Santa speaking live to the passengers and asking each of them individually what would be their dream gift this Christmas. Meanwhile behind the scenes, WestJet staff doubling as Santa’s Elves dash round, hurriedly buying, wrapping and labelling these very gifts, just in time for both planes arrivals into Calgary. As the passengers wait patiently for their luggage what happens next is not just magical, it’s pretty emotional too……..
I bet the guy who asked for new underwear and socks was GUTTED!
There’s also a VERY funny out-takes vid from the WestJet Christmas Miracle – real-time giving video and here it is……
And back in 2012 the airline surprised 166 guests waiting to board a flight from Calgary to Toronto, turning a rather sleepy departure lounge into the North Pole…..
KLM would like to wish all their passengers Vrolijk Kerstfeest…..Merry Christmas!
In 2012 the Dutch carrier decided to surprise some of their Chicago bound passengers, with a Business Class upgrade and a Christmas-themed Boom Chicago comedy show on board. Cabin crew member Natalie played Santa, as she handed out the gifts in Amsterdam…..
Here we take you back to the ‘Friendly Skies’ of United and a very old TV ad for the American carrier.
And a more recent ‘Safety Demonstration’ insipred video
British Airways – Santa’s Plan.
The ever glamorous and gorgeous staff at British Airways offered a helping hand in 2012, after Father Christmas had a few reindeer technical difficulties. Although, I would have thought that they could have ensured this A-list celeb didn’t have to slum it in economy…..
Are you longing for brussels sprouts, mince pies, crackers, and time with family and friends this Christmas? Then head back to Blighty with British Airways. There’s #NoPlaceLikeHome
This holiday season, Air Canada wanted to give Canadians living abroad one of the best gifts imaginable. Their reactions were pure magic…..
Christmas is all about family and Air Canada introduces us to their family in this festive video…..
Sick of the same rubbish Christmas presents from family and friends? Well Virgin Atlantic had a great idea to put an end to unwanted gifts by getting friends and family to chip in towards a Virgin Atlantic flight instead at whereiwantforchristmas.com
In December 2013, Virgin Atlantic ‘Little Red’ helped get their passengers into the festive spirit by entertaining on-board with some Christmas carols…..
Meanwhile, Virgin Atlantic and Microsoft brought the magic of Christmas to passengers at 30,000 feet as Santa paid a flying visit to flight VS11 in December 2014. Watch the magic in the air unfold! #FestiveFlights
Delta Airlines 2016 holiday commercial revolved around two words…..
The holidays are a time when we hold friends and family dear. It’s when we miss those that can’t be with us the most. Well, what if you had the power to bring people together? Wouldn’t you use it? See what happens when Alaska Airlines does just that.
Stay tuned for more festive videos to be added to our Christmas IFE zone in the run up to the big day and if you have any suggestions of other videos to add then let me know in the comments section below.
Merry Christmas to you all x
