Qantas has announced that renowned Australian luxury fashion designer Rebecca Vallance has been tasked with creating the flag carrier’s new crew uniform, set to launch in 2027.
The airline said that it will be the first significant redesign of the uniform in more than a decade and was “an important part” of its transformation alongside its fleet renewal programme and preparations for Project Sunrise.

Vallance will use the feedback gathered from over 17,500 uniformed staff members, including cabin crew, pilots, engineering, and airport staff, to ensure the new outfits reflect functionality, durability, comfort, and, of course, Australian Style.
Known for her luxury designs and eponymous label, launched in 2011 at Paris Fashion Week, Vallance has previously collaborated with the carrier, creating a line of limited-edition business-class pyjamas in 2023 for its new Sydney to New York route. Speaking of the latest apparel, she said that it would reflect the modern sophistication and spirit of the Qantas Team.
“To be entrusted with this redesign is a huge milestone for me personally and for my brand. I am looking forward to creating something iconic, yet wearable, while celebrating the people who make this airline such a beloved part of Australia’s story,” Vallance explained.
“This is a defining moment in my career, not just because of the scale of the project, but because of the trust Qantas has placed in me. It’s a partnership I am deeply grateful for.”
Speaking to news outlet The Australian, she said, “Qantas is a premium airline that needs modern sophistication [in its uniforms]. And my designs have a polish to them. We’re both proudly Australian with an elevated customer.”

Meanwhile, Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson added, “Our uniform represents the Qantas spirit all over the world. We’re proud to be working with Rebecca Vallance to define the new look and to reflect where Qantas is heading.
“We want the new uniform to reflect the pride our team feel when they wear it, and this redesign is a collaborative journey that will be shaped by our people every step of the way.”
Vallance’s appointment continues the airline’s proud history of Qantas teaming up with world-leading designers to create iconic uniforms for its staff members, which over the years have included Martin Grant, who made the airline’s current look launched in 2014, along with Peter Morrissey, Emilio Pucci, and Yves Saint Laurent.

No details have been released about the new designs, but we will, of course, keep you updated as the new look is revealed.
